Location: Madison, GA - Department: Research and Devlopment

Seachem Laboratories, Inc , the industry leader in the manufacturing of innovative products for the aquarium hobby as well as other segments of the pet care industry, is expanding its Research and Development Department in its Madison, Georgia production facility and has an immediate opening for a research scientist.

The position involves basic and applied research into the biochemical functioning of aquatic organisms (fish, plants, corals, etc). The successful candidate will conduct research under minimal supervision to identify the nutritional needs of aquatic flora and fauna, and explore the biochemical requirements for the healthy growth and longevity of these organisms.

  • A B.S. degree in biochemistry/chemistry/microbiology and a demonstrated ability to perform minimally supervised research is required.
  • A strong background in organic chemistry and formulation, as well as experience in pharmaceuticals/food science is preferred, but not required.
  • An ability to think outside the box is mandatory.
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for the aquarium hobby and possess experience in aquatic biology/zoology and/or wet chemistry.
  • 2-3 years previous experience in a professional lab setting is helpful, but not compulsory.
  • Ease with computers and reporting, presentation of scientific findings, and comfort in a dynamic, high functioning organization is essential.

Location: Madison, GA - Department: Support

The Sales Support & Product Education Specialist is a fast-paced, customer service oriented position with a focus on providing technical and scientific information about Seachem products to varying types of customers including, but not limited to, domestic and international distributors, pet/aquarium store owners, employees and consumers. Additionally, this position takes an active role in performing sales support duties in assigned territories - both domestically and internationally - requiring a high level of professionalism, organization, and prioritization skills. Individuals must be willing and able to perform the duties of this position under minimal supervision and possess the drive and ability to build strong relationships with accounts in the territories. The ability and schedule to travel both domestically and internationally when and where necessary is a pre-requisite for this position. Persons applying for this position can expect travel to occur once a month or more depending on demand and for a minimum of 7 to 14 days during each travel period.

Major responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Answering technical questions with regard to Seachem products and aquarium keeping using proper presentation, phone, and email etiquette
  • Providing exceptional customer service and sales support to key distributors and retailers in an assigned territory
  • Facilitate and/or create product training presentations, lectures, and informal seminars in order to educate retailers and end-users on Seachem products
  • Travel to major trade shows, aquarium society, and industry events to represent the company when and where necessary as assigned by management
  • Conduct formalized, college style training courses at Seachem headquarters for store owners, managers, and employees which require public speaking ability and computer literacy
  • Perform all other job related functions as assigned by Management regardless of time, location, or anticipated engagements including weekends and evenings

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science-related field
  • Computer literacy, proper phone etiquette, and public speaking ability
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly in and out of the United States
  • Conversational fluency in a foreign language is highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to present information effectively in front of large groups in an educated fashion
  • On-site employment at Seachem Headquarters in Madison, Georgia (Located between Atlanta and Augusta)
